Virginia Tech Courses:

Course presentations will review the concepts of erosion and sediment transport in subaqueous environments with an emphasis on scour processes. Participants will learn about a variety of state-of-the-art field measuring techniques to collect sediment samples, assess flow conditions and monitor erosion and scour. Several commonly used scour prediction equations will be presented and discussed with regard to their performance with regard to specific site conditions. The course will conclude with an overview on the role of ocean as well as boat wake waves on erosion processes.
