The OWS (OYO Wappa Source) is an innovative downhole seismic source suitable for a seismic survey between boreholes (mainly, seismic tomography). Its non-explosive seismic source makes it possible to carry out a survey with almost no damage to borehole walls, and does not require the bothersome legal application procedures as in the case of using the explosives.
High-speed impact rate with the approximate interval of 10 sec has been achieved. Once the device is lowered down into a borehole, the system can extend the seismic excitation consecutively without lifting it up again, which increases user’s work efficiency. Also, it is very user-friendly system owing to its simple structure and operation.
