ACTIVE FAULTS AND RELATED LATE QUATERNARYDEFORMATION ALONG THE NORTHWESTERNHIMALAYAN FRONTAL ZONE, INDIA (2003)

Investigations carried out on active tectonism for the past several decades have provided vital information on the ongoing crustal deformation and on recurrence of earthquakes in the Himalayas. For detailed paleoseismic studies, a preliminary trench investigation was carried out near Chandigarh along a branching fault of the HFF system. In this paper are summarized the preliminary findings from the trench study.
