DAMS AND EARTHQUAKES IN NEW ZEALAND (2007)

New Zealand is located in the area of active seismicity on the boundary between the Australian and Pacific plates. Most dams in New Zealand are in the close proximity to active faults and some dams have been built across active faults. The paper describes how earthquake considerations have been taken into account by dam owners in New Zealand over the last 25 years.
