The purpose of this Circular is to illustrate the hydrologic, geologic, and ecological concepts that must be considered to assure the wise and sustainable use of our precious ground-water resources.

<p>This chapter deals with major transboundary rivers discharging into the<br />Mediterranean Sea and some of their transboundary tributaries. It also<br />includes lakes located within the basin of the Mediterranean Sea.</p>
