At 10/6/2017 and around 11:00 in the morning local time, a large scale landslide occurred which affected almost the entire extent of the excavation at the Amyndeon Mine of the Lignite Center of Western Macedonia.

PPC had been extensively monitoring the development of the phenomenon with the appropriate monitoring procedures and instruments and had taken all necessary actions to protect workers and equipment by suspending the mine operations from 3/6/2017. However, the landslide and the masses that moved were much larger (80 million cubic meters) than anticipated, resulting in severe damage to large number of mining equipment.
