ALEC wins contract to build Dubai airport data centre

Dubai Airports will partner with Huawei to design the high-profile centre, which was announced at GITEX Technology Week in 2016. The modular containers for the data centre space will be provided by Huawei, while the data centres themselves will be interconnected through a dedicated fibre optic link.

These facilities will provide high-level resilience and availability to support the critical operations of Dubai Airports, ALEC said.

On average, 230,000 passengers pass through Dubai International Airport on a daily basis, and this figure is expected to grow towards 325,000 per day by 2023, making zero downtime and high reliability a vital requirement.
