This study describes a way of studying landfill microbial communities using landfill gas and landfill gascondensate, which allows collecting many numbers of samples without disrupting the waste. Comparisons between landfill waste and landfill gas microbial communities were made by using culture-independent methods. This study provides a foundation of the microbial ecology involved in landfill waste degradation.
