Seqwater owns and operates 25 referable dams in South East Queensland. These dams fulfil an important role within the community providing water for urban, industrial and irrigation use as well as providing for hydroelectric power generation, flood mitigation and community recreation.
The failure of anyone of Seqwater's dams can have significant consequences  ranging from loss of life or injury, to economic loss and damage to property and the environment, to loss of critical water supplies. Seqwater has an excellent dam safety record and the purpose of this document is to describe Seqwater's Dam Safety Management Program. This program has been developed to ensure the safety of Seq water's dams and to preserve Seqwater's excellent dam safety record.
