Soil Strength Probe

The Soil Strength Probe is a simple and easy tool used mainly for the purposes of (1) Layer thickness measurement, (2) Penetration test and (3) Shear test.
1. Layer thickness measurement: Layer thickness can be roughly measured by pushing a rod (φ 10 mm) with a penetration cone statically into the ground
2. Penetration test: Soil type, layer strength and layer thickness can be roughly measured by pushing a rod (φ 10 mm) with a penetration cone statically into the ground using a spring-type load meter.
3. Shear test: Internal friction and cohesion at a site are measured by pushing a penetration cone with a wing (vane cone) into a target depth and, then, by checking press force and rotation torque.
