VIBRATORY COMPACTION OF COARSE-GRAINED SOILS (2002)
The most useful tool for deciding which soils can be dentified by dynamic methods is the cone penetration test. Based on the CPT data, variation of the coefficient of earth pressure in normally consolidated and overconsolidated soil and effect of soil compaction on the change of the horizontal effective stress are discussed. A method is outlined which makes it possible to estimate the increase of the effective earth pressure based on sleeve friction measurements.
