FAILURE OF A SOIL NAILED SLOPE (2004)

Soil nails are commonly used to strengthen or stabilize a slope. However, slope failure may still happen if the designed depths of soil nails are inadequate. This paper presents a slope failure case history of a soil nails strengthened slope. The slope wasoriginally a cut slope but was strengthened using soil nails after few localized slips occurred. The lengths of the soil nails were 9m and 6m at the lowest berm and second lowest berm respectively. The soil nailed slope failed after few days of rains
