The purpose of this Circular is to provide updated information on the state of the practice for the use of inclinometers on highway projects. This instrument technology has more than 50 years of experience. Data evaluation and correction procedures have improved with increased knowledge and introduction of analytical and graphing software. However, correcting inclinometer results for systematic errors is not widely understood and is not common practice.
