Cars swallowed up and houses evacuated after massive landslide in Rome metro construction
Several cars were swallowed up and dozens of people were evacuated when a construction site apparently collapsed.
At least six cars fell into the 30ft hole in Rome when the ground collapsed beneath them at around 5.30pm.
The collapse happened in the Baldunia area of the city between via Livio Andronico and via Lattanzio.
Fire crews from two different stations were called to the scene in the north west of the city.
