Powerful 6.0 magnitude quake strikes Philippines in Pacific Ring of Fire
The quake, initially measuring 6.0 magnitude, struck the island of Mindanao in the south of the country on Wednesday, the European earthquake monitoring service (EMSC) reported.
Its epicentre was 130 miles (211km) northeast of Davao at a depth of 37 miles (60km).
Aftershocks are expected, authorities in the Philippines have warned.
The undersea quake was later revised down to 5.7 magnitude.
