One year later: Slow movement on slide repairs
Construction workers build up a barricade below the North Salt Lake landslide on Thursday, July 30, 2015. Wednesday, Aug. 5, marks the one-year anniversary of the landslide. Despite a recent agreement on how to fund the slide's remediation and now riddled with lawsuits, the neighborhood has improved very little.
Now, just days before the Aug. 5 anniversary of the North Salt Lake landslide, Paul and Jeanette Evans, along with their neighbors, watch with guarded hope as crews begin prep work to close up the community's open wound that still continues to bleed.
"It's hard to believe it took a year to get started, but it's good to see," Evans said. "This has consumed the last year of our lives. We're anxious to get past it."
