Experts testing I-65 bridge repair plan

JConline   19 August 2015   USA   Indiana

A Pennsylvania-based company with expertise in solving geotechnical construction problems has been hired to stabilize the northbound Interstate 65 bridge over Wildcat Creek, Indiana Department of Transportation spokeswoman Debbie Calder said. Nicholson Construction Co. on Sunday sent a crew and equipment from its office in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she said. “They began (Monday), and they’re in the process of doing the first test pile,” Calder said on Tuesday. Data from the test will help design the micropilings needed to keep the center bridge pier from sinking deeper into the soil under the creek, INDOT spokesman Will Wingfield said.
