After three landslides, mitigation efforts set
On Monday morning a geotechnical engineering firm in Mexico City will begin the delicate job of mitigation on a 70-meter-high hill in Santa Fe, in the borough of Cuajimalpa, where three landslides have left a residential development at risk. Part of the process includes the demolition of a home that was left in a precarious position above the site of the first slide, which took place October 27. And while the property owner says he is considering filing for an injunction, the Federal District says the house must come down, along with some of the land on which it sits, in order to prevent further damage.
