Aecom team lands Schiphol pier design
An Aecom-led team has beaten four other bidders to win the design commission for a new pier and airside facilities at Schiphol airport in the Netherlands.
Royal Schiphol Group’s decision to pick Aecom’s team for the project was based on its architectural outlook, suggested approach and related price. The team also includes Cepezed, Imd , dGmR and Copijn.
The design is due for delivery by late 2017 and the new pier is expected to be operational in late 2019. It will give Schiphol eight new gates; there will be five for narrow-body aircraft on the north side, while the south side will have three gates for wide-body aircraft, which can also be used to connect six narrow-body aircrafts. In a later stage two additional wide-body gates will be created on the south side of the new pier.
