Abu Dhabi’s Al Maqta’a bidding hall processed $3.8bn in tenders in 2016
Al Maqta’a bidding hall, the entity set up by the UAE government to ensure transparency in the bidding process for tenders, has processed 59 tenders worth more than $3.8 billion for 14 government entities in Abu Dhabi at the end of 2016.
According to the Department of Finance – Abu Dhabi, the capital and operational project tenders managed by Al Maqta’a included service, infrastructure and operational projects. These included strategically important projects, such as roads and infrastructure, national housing programmes, schools and government buildings.
The tenders processed in 2016 were from a variety of organisations, including the likes of Western Region Municipality, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport, Abu Dhabi Sewerage Company, Abu Dhabi General Services (Musanada), Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation and Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, amongst many others.
The results were a reflection of the success the government’s plan to diversify the economy, and of government investments in key sectors, outside of oil, the Department of Finance – Abu Dhabi, said.
These results also showcased continuous growth across various government sectors in Abu Dhabi, it added.
