The first part of this article deals with the design and construction measures taken for the 880 m-head unlined pressure shaft. The latter part deals with a new concept for sealing of the concrete section at the base of the pressure shaft which has been introduced at the project; this has provedto be an effectivemethod for shafu subjected tohigh water pressures.
