The Geological Curators Group, which is  affiliated to the Geological Society, was founded  in  May  1974  by  geologists  concerned  about  the  poor  standard  of geological curation and consequent plight of  geological collections in many of  the museums  in  Britain. This is a first edition of guidelines for the curation of geological matierials in museums.
