THE MW 8.8 CHILE EARTHQUAKE OF FEBRUARY 27, 2010 (2010)

On Saturday, February 27, 2010, at 03:34 a.m. local time (06:34:14 
UTC), an Mw 8.8 earthquake struck the central south region of Chile,  affecting an area with a population exceeding eight million people, including 6.1M, 0.8M, and 0.9M in the urban areas around Santiago, Valparaíso/Viña del Mar, and Concepción, respectively.
