ASEISMIC DESIGN OF UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES (1987)

This study defines the basis for the aseismic design of subsurface excavations and underground structures. It includes a definition of the seismic environment and earthquake hazard, and a review of the analytical and empirical tools that are available to the designer concerned with the performance oJ underground structures subjected to seismic loads. Particular attention is devoted to development of simplified models that appear to be applicable in many practical cases.
