PRACTICAL DISCUSSION ON THE INTERPRETATION OF GEOMONITORING MEASUREMENTS AND THEIR INFUENCE ON TUNNEL SUPPORT DESIGN, A CASE STUDY (2009)

This is a paper that discusses, in a practical/empirical manner, the movements - and their impact on the support measures- which have been measured during the excavation of the top heading of the Driskos motorway tunnel (now in operation), during the years 2000 to 2002. The total length of the tunnel is almost 4.5km and consists of two parallel 12m span tunnels. It belongs to the Egnatia Motorway in Northern Greece. The measurements of 37 (3-point) monitoring stations have been analyzed and evaluated.
