Earthquake of 6.9 magnitude hits Aleutian Islands in Alaska in 'seismically active region' that gets 'many moderate to large' quakes each year

An earthquake measuring magnitude 6.9 struck the Aleutian Islands in Alaska at a depth of seven miles late on Sunday, according to the US Geological Survey.
