CHARACTERISTICS OF VERTICAL STRONG GROUND MOTIONS FOR APPLICATIONS TO ENGINEERING DESIGN (1997)
Characteristics of vertical and horizontal component strong ground motions have been examined to reveal general trends which may be of significance to structural analyses.  Recordings at both rock and deep soil sites representative of WUS showed distinctly different behavior of vertical motions at  rock and soil sites at close source distances (D 10 to 15 km).
