DESIGN BY PILE LOAD TESTING OF DRILLED SHAFTS IN CYPRUS ALLUVIAL DEPOSITS IN ACCORDANCE TO EUROCODE 7 (2010)
On the basis of load tests undertaken during the course of major projects, it has been established, that drilled shafts show particular behaviour with respect to skin friction in Cyprus alluvial formations. In general, skin friction and pile capacity as determined by load testing appear to be higher than that anticipated by calculation. In this respect, design as per Eurocode 7 using pile load tests will in general be more favourable for the design leading to less number of piles or pile lengths per foundation.
