Alaska earthquake: Where did earthquake hit today? Kodiak and Anchorage on tsunami alert
ALASKA has been hit by a huge 7.9 magnitude earthquake today, with officials issuing an "extraordinary" tsunami warnings of a "threat to life and property" in towns of Kodiak and Anchorage and a watch for the entire US west coast.
The quake hit 157 miles southeast of Chiniak, Alaska, at a depth of 10 km at 9.31am GMT, the US Geological Survey said.
Residents of Anchroage and Kodiak are now being urged to move higher ground amid warnings of a "extraordinary threat to life or property".
