Pilot discovers massive Alaska landslide that took huge chunk out of snow-capped mountain and unleashed millions of tons of rock into debris field stretching nearly SEVEN MILES

Daily Mail   06 July 2016   USA   Alaska

A huge chunk of mountain has given way in Alaska, sending 165million tons of rock almost seven miles in an astonishing landslide.
Paul Swanstrom, a pilot, first noticed it last week when he flew over the Lamplugh Glacier, in Glacier Bay National Park, 100 miles northwest of Juneau.
He shot a video showing the dark mass of rock spread over the glacier, which is itself about eight miles long and ends in Johns Hopkins Inlet, part of Glacier Bay.
